Details

Culture and media have played big roles in how we think we should behave as girls.
“Coming soon in theatre: Pinky Barbie Wonderland.”
“The laundry powder your wife will thank you for.”
“Don’t grow too many muscles! It will scare the boys away.”

In this session, we travel to our past to reflect on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have been affected by the environment for a long time. Meanwhile, we learn how we think about the influences and if we want to do something about it.

Discussion Guide
Below are the questions everyone is encouraged to have some thoughts on before coming:
1. How does the media perceive girls in family, relationships, career & society?
2. What are the roles of our moms in the families? How have our parents told us about being a girl?
3. How does the marketing and entertainment industry see girls? How have they affected our behaviors subtly?
4. Are we ok with how we were shaped? If not, how do we want to change?
